According to a recent study results published in The New England Journal of Medicine, preoperative skin antisepsis using chlorhexidine-alcohol as opposed to iodine-alcohol appeared to reduce infections among women undergoing cesarean delivery.  Reducing the surgical site infection rate is especially critical as new mothers need to care for their child.
